Baptisms
Can I have my child baptized at St. John the Divine?
The short answer is, ‘of course!’ The longer answer is that, if you are not currently a participant in the community at St. John the Divine,, our priest will request a meeting with you to discuss the commitment that baptism entails. It is our Bishop’s expectation that baptisms are celebrated during a Sunday liturgy (rather than in a ‘private’ ceremony).
If I am not prepared to make the commitment that baptism entails, may I have my child blessed?
Of course! A ‘Thanksgiving For the Gift of a Child’ service can be celebrated.
Can I be baptized as an adult?
Again, the short answer is, ‘of course!’ Please contact our priest for more information.
Can I make arrangements for my grandchild to be baptized?
No. Baptism must be requested by parents/guardians.
What is the cost for baptism?
There is NO fee for baptism.
